Green Istria

Hiking Trails: Anywhere, Beauty Everywhere

print

You have realized by now, Istria is amazing. Such a small peninsula, so many choices. For both lovers of walking or hiking, whichever pace suits you better. The interior of Istria hides about a hundred landscaped and marked hiking trails. So let's go on a journey!

In addition to being the queen of bike trails, Parenzana welcomes pedestrians as well. The former railway that connected Poreč with Trieste is now a path that winds through valleys, over hills, through vineyards and olive groves… But walkers primarily want to see dark tunnels and stone viaducts.

For hikers, the most popular is the Seven Waterfalls Trail, which follows the course of the Mirna River and its waterfalls. The trail starts and ends in Buzet and is equally mystical and beautiful at any time of the year, and it’s not very demanding.

Green Istria also offers the Bellavista Trail, the St. Simon's Trail, the Medieval Roads Trail, and there is also a trail named after the famous cellist Stjepan Hauser, whom you probably know as a member of the duo 2Cellos. The trail passes through his birthplace Rakalj and continues along the sea, through the wild. Basically, anywhere, beauty everywhere…
