Green Istria

An Oasis for Lovers of Active Holidays

Blue Istria, or its northwestern part, is known for its bays and beaches on the shores of the crystal clear Adriatic Sea but it is also known for cycling routes and one of the paragliding centers.

The bike paths of northwestern Istria are undoubtedly very attractive, and not only to Croats. They equally attract professionals and recreationists, road and mountain bikers, due to the connection between the coast and the hilly hinterland, the ideal combination of eno-gastronomic pleasures with historical and cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Experiencing at least part of Parenzana, the trail of health and friendship, the queen of bike paths, is one of those "before I die" experiences.

We will list a few more and let their names speak for themselves: Momjan Muscat trail, Istrian Malvasia Trail, The Trail of Submerged Ancient Ports in Umag… Professionals and recreationists come to Istria every year to ride the Grandfondo, a cycling marathon through the heart of Istria. On the other hand, Istria300 is only for "tour de force", avid cyclists. Vrsar and Poreč have traditionally organized triathlons for those made of steel, and 100 miles of Istria is an ultra trail race where the only important thing to finish. At any time.

Those who are not afraid of heights and want an additional dose of adrenaline should head in the direction of Buzet, known as a paragliding center, or to Novigrad or Umag, from where you can also embark on an aerial adventure. Seeing all those hills, olive groves, vineyards, magical little towns from a height is indescribable, so we will stop here.
